April 2018: National Volunteer Month

Volunteer appreciation month 2018

Although April is National Volunteer Month, we appreciate our volunteers year round, as they are a crucial bastion of support, ensuring St. Francis House can offer such a breadth and depth of programs and services for guests.

Collectively, St. Francis House relied on over 2,237 volunteers in the past year who donated over 29,950 hours of service!

A thank you to our volunteers

St. Francis House hosts a private appreciation dinner for our volunteers during National Volunteer Week, but that doesn’t stop us from acknowledging their service and commitment all year!

Throughout the month, our staff members, Board members, and Emerging Leaders are sharing personal testimonials why they appreciate our volunteers: see photos.

Our 2,373 volunteers give (29,950 hours, that is)

Both individual and group volunteers are able to support St. Francis House in many different ways with our Basic Services offerings to guests. They work in the kitchen helping prep and/or serve 600 meals a day, help sort clothing donations or work one on one with a guest to determine what fresh threads they are seeking, or assist in many other ways in our Resource Center and Sullivan Family Moving Ahead Program.

Because of our volunteers, St. Francis House can ensure the quality of our services for Boston’s poor and homeless – thank you.
