On Friday, August 3 players from the Big3 basketball tournament stopped by St. Francis House for a few hours before donning their uniforms for their game at TD Garden. Their time visiting our guests and providing basic services was a SLAM DUNK! The Big3, a three-on-three basketball tournament tour created by rapper Ice Cube and entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz, features mostly retired NBA players who travel across the country, playing three-on-three games to wide audiences of fans.
Serving it up both on and off the court
Before hitting the courts Friday evening, players from the Big3 took some time serve lunch to excited guests. Friday’s lunch service turned into an all out celebration with balloons, music, and delicious food. Excitement buzzed from our atrium on the first floor all the way up to tenth floor of the building as the players including stars Ricky Davis, Mario West, and Hall of Famer Rick Barry served lunch, mingled with guests, and provided fresh produce gift bags from Katsiroubas. Guests posed for pictures with the stars and some even recounted memories from watching past games of the players.
Let the games begin…
The Big3 generously donated 100 tickets to St. Francis House for Friday night’s game. With many former Celtics players playing in the tournament, the Boston crowd entered TD Garden ready to cheer on many of their former favorite players and hometown heroes.
Special thanks to everyone at the Big3 for generously donating their time and efforts to make last Friday at St. Francis House a slam dunk!
