SUMMARY:Boston Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Team St. Francis House is running in the 2023 Boston Marathon to raise awareness and vital funds to support life changing programs for people experiencing homelessness in Boston. \nQuestions? Please contact Tracy O’Leary at toleary@stfrancishouse.org. \nSt. Francis House is proud to be an official Partner of John Hancock in its Marathon Non-Profit Program. Through this program\, John Hancock helps foster healthier\, more equitable communities by annually donating 1\,000 Boston Marathon® entries to select non-profit organizations who use them for fundraising. Last year\, John Hancock Non-Profit Runners raised $11.7M for their causes. \n_____________________________________________________________________ \n\n\n\nWe’re proud to be working with three amazing Team SFH Runners who we collaborate with through social media and event promotions to meet a $10\,000 fundraising goal per person. Learn more or make a donation to support our runners. \n \nMeet our 2023 Boston Marathon Runners\n\n\n\n\n \n  \n \nColleen Boland \n\n\n \nA longtime volunteer and supporter of St. Francis House\, Colleen is joining Team SFH for her first ever marathon! In the last few years Colleen has been working toward this long-term goal with 5k’s\, 10k’s and half marathons leading up to the big race this April. She chose to fundraise with St. Francis House because when she worked in the neighborhood\, she “could see the positive impact that the organization has on homelessness.” A resident of Beverly\, when Colleen is not running races she runs her own Catering business. She lives with her two children and her husband\, who also volunteered at St. Francis House throughout high school. Reflecting on her upcoming milestone Colleen said\, “Completing this goal will be an amazing achievement that I can share with everyone who got me to this point!” \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n \n \nMarlene O’Donnell \n\n\n \nA longtime supporter of St. Francis House\, Marleen is preparing for her 11th consecutive Boston Marathon and her 4th time running as part of Team SFH! Marleen works as a nutritionist in the Boston area and is a seasoned member of the Heartbreak Striders running club. Running has taught Marlene that if she makes a plan and has options\, she can reach her goal. While running\, she tries to listen to her breath\, her feet hitting the ground and observes the meditative movements. She focuses on thing at a time\, one mile at a time. As a veteran marathon runner\, Marleen says she will feel\, “happy and blessed to be at the starting line in April.” \n\n\n \n\n\n \n \nOlivia Debes \n\n\n\n\n \nOlivia Debes serves as the Women’s Center Coordinator at St. Francis House and is our first ever staff marathon runner! Olivia loves yoga\, reading and travel and is training for Boston 2023 to be her first ever marathon. While completing her Masters of Social Work at Boston University\, Olivia took up running and soon developed a deep passion and joy for the sport. A resident of Allston\, Olivia says she is “incredibly excited” to represent St. Francis House and has set a personal fundraising goal of $15\,000.

SUMMARY:'State of the Agency' Address
DESCRIPTION:Throughout the year\, we host virtual State of the Agency Addresses where President and CEO Karen LaFrazia discusses a currently developing program or service. Often\, the address features a conversation with another member of the staff who is involved in the developing project. The State of the Agency Address helps our supporters to stay up to date on what St. Francis House is doing to advance our mission in relation to current events and issues. \nIn our most recent address\, Karen LaFrazia and our Art Therapist Gurleen Anand discussed our Expressive Art Therapy programming based in our Margaret Stewart Lindsay Art Studio. Together they explored guests’ varied paths to the program\, the unique healing process they discover\, and the amazing art they create as a result. \n
