Massachusetts House of Representatives passes FY18 Budget
To everyone who contacted their State Representatives to support St. Francis House in the state budget, thank you!
Through your advocacy, the final House budget this week included funding for our Sullivan Family Moving Ahead Program at $125,000 and there was a small increase for Individual Homeless Services, which will benefit our Day Shelter.
We are grateful for your time and efforts on behalf of St. Francis House and our guests, and for the many members of the House who signed on to co-sponsor Representative Aaron Michlewitz’s earmark to fund our Moving Ahead Program, which is an effective program that returns homeless individuals to work.
Next: working with Massachusetts Senate in May
We will now focus on the Senate, who will create and release their own budget proposal in May. St. Francis House will be in touch with the community when the Senate releases their version of next year’s state budget, to advocate for Moving Ahead Program funding at $150,000 in the FY18 budget.
