L Street Running club gives back – again!
If you’re training for a marathon or maybe just getting off the couch for a 5K, you already know of the L Street Running Club. A South Boston icon, the club is well known for its excellent training programs and many neighborhood road races. In fact, their Jim Kane 5K Road Race will celebrate 30 years this summer!
At the club’s annual meeting on Tuesday, Dec 6, St. Francis House accepted a check in support of our programs and services. The club distributed funds raised from the Jim Kane road race to several organizations in the Boston community. St. Francis House was thrilled to be included with other organizations including The Gavin Foundation, Father Bill’s and MainSpring, and Christmas in the City.
Sock and Shoe Collection
As part of the annual meeting, the club also held a sock and shoe drive with its members. These shoes and socks will go to immediate use for our homeless guests in this bitter cold weather. We can never have enough shoes and boots on our shelves for guests in need of proper footwear.
Is your community group looking to get involved?
You don’t have to be as big or as well known as the L Street Running Club of South Boston to get involved.
Are you active in any of these types of groups? We can brainstorm together on how you can help St. Francis House. Email Sharon Lee to learn more, email@example.com.
