Moakley Breakfast Forum explores the region’s “housing emergency”

Helping the Homeless Find Homes in Boston

As rent prices continue to increase in Boston, the lack of housing continues to be a barrier for our guests at St. Francis House. Karen LaFrazia, our President/CEO participated in this year’s Moakley Breakfast forum series on May 16, 2019. Karen joined a panel discussion alongside other leaders about the need to create more affordable housing in Boston.

During the panel discussion, Karen emphasized the need for housing, “For our constituents, housing and employment are probably the two most sought after resources after breakfast and lunch, so it’s imperative to develop deeply affordable housing.”

Moakley Public Service Award

The Sawyer Business School at Suffolk University also presented the 2019 Moakley Public Service Award to St. Francis House for The Union at 48 Boylston along with the Planning Office for Urban Affairs. This collaborative effort created 46 units of affordable housing, continuing our mission of serving those in need.
