North End Friends of St. Francis House recently completed the 14th annual rummage and bake sale at the Nazzaro Center.
The event was held held on May 4 and 5.
This year the sale raised $15,000 for St. Francis House. The group’s support over the years has cumulatively raised over $215,000 for our programs. The North End Friends group has been one of our strongest community partners over the years, continually finding ways to support our programs and services with drives and funding.
In addition to a bounty of sale items such as vinyl records, books, flatware, and crockery, there were sweet treats provided by the many neighborhood bakeries including: Bova’s, Mike’s Pastries, J. Pace and Sons, Maria’s Pastry, and Parziale Bakery.
Some words of thanks.
A special thank you to Mary Romano who prepared all the food for the event -meatball subs, eggplant Parmesan, and sausage sandwiches. Also thanks to Olivia Scimeca, our liaison with the North End Friends, who organized the event with St. Francis House and keeps the event running smoothly year after year.
Thanks to the North End Seniors for giving up their meeting location to accommodate our sale at the Nazzaro Center, and to the many helpers at the Nazzaro including Carl Ameno, Bruce Jordan, and Clark Hazelwood for organizing throughout the week. Thanks to the neighborhood locations which placed donation cans at their businesses to collect for St. Francis House.
