14th Annual Shooze Cruise to collect shoes for the poor and homeless

BOSTON – August 1, 2017 – Join the Emerging Leaders of St. Francis House as they present their signature event, the 14th annual Shooze Cruise, on Wednesday, August 9. The evening Boston Harbor cruise aboard Provincetown II will feature dancing, plentiful hors d’ouevres, and a cash bar.

The Shooze Cruise raises funds and collects footwear for the poor and homeless guests of St. Francis House. Proper footwear is one of the biggest challenges of men and women living on the streets. In addition to a $40 ticket, each attendee is asked to donate a pair of new men’s sneakers or boots, sizes 9-13, as they board the Cruise.

The Emerging Leaders young professionals group of St. Francis House organizes and promotes the Shooze Cruise. These young philanthropists highlight the needs of homeless men and women who are rebuilding their lives at St. Francis House. The Shooze Cruise was first launched by an Emerging Leader with the novel idea to raise awareness about homelessness while collecting shoes with some Boston College classmates – and the popular footwear drive and boat celebration is still cruising 14 years later. Join the fun at 21+ only.

With more than 275 Boston professionals onboard, the 14th annual summer Shooze Cruise expects to bring more than 300 new pairs of shoes to St. Francis House. This year’s cruise also aims to raise more than $32,000 to support the programs and services at St. Francis House.

           WHEN: Wednesday, August 9, 2017 6:30pm boarding, 7pm-10:00pm cruise.
WHERE: Provincetown II, World Trade Center Pier, 200 Seaport Boulevard, Boston

Our Captain level sponsor this year is Webster Bank. North 26 Restaurant with Chef Julia Brant generously donates and serves the food, and WERS 88.9 radio donated precious radio waves to spread the word about our Shooze Cruise.
