By now, we’re all aware of the opioid epidemic that is plaguing our community. At St. Francis House, we have seen up close and personal how this scourge impacts the people that we serve. As part of our mission to rebuild lives, we’re committed to doing everything we can to alleviate the impacts of this epidemic – and to help bring an end to it.
What is RIZE?
RIZE Massachusetts is an initiative focused on building a fund to provide grants to organizations that assist those struggling with substance use. They recently awarded grants to four organizations from across the state, and one of these organizations chosen was Boston Health Care for the Homeless (BHCHP). BHCHP will be partnering with St. Francis House and the Pine Street Inn to help those who are experiencing homelessness – or have experienced it in the past – who are also struggling with opioid use disorder.
We could not be prouder to be part of this initiative. St. Francis House has a long history of working with Boston Healthcare for the Homeless, which operates our on-site medical clinic, providing physicians and nurses with experience and expertise in treating the concerns of our guests. Now, alongside our colleagues at Pine Street Inn, we will be working with BHCHP to strengthen programs that address the issue of opioid abuse.
Thank you, RIZE – and thank you Boston Health Care for the Homeless.
