What We Do
Located in the heart of downtown Boston, we are open every single day, 365 days a year serving hundreds of individuals experiencing homelessness. Our basic, rehabilitative, and housing services overlap and build on one another to provide our guests with continuous and comprehensive support.

St. Francis House rebuilds lives by providing refuge and pathways to stability for adults experiencing homelessness and poverty.
We are a welcoming and inclusive community. Every day of the year, we enable individuals to meet their basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter. We transform lives using a holistic approach to understanding and addressing behavioral health, housing, and employment needs. We commit ourselves to helping those we serve achieve renewed lives of dignity and self-determination.

St. Francis House is a nonsectarian registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We have been serving people experiencing homelessness and poverty since 1984.
Our Pillars of Service
Refuge
Our refuge services are our most basic services. Inside our doors we provide guests with a warm meal, a shower, a change of clothes, a place to receive their mail, make phone calls, access computers and more.
Behavioral Health
Our multilingual, multicultural case managers and clinicians invest in building stable, trusting relationships and emphasize autonomy and self-determination at each step of a guest’s journey. That foundation empowers guests to make positive changes.
Income & Employment
In a supportive, healing, and growth-oriented setting, we offer tailored income growth planning by exploring career pathways, setting up reasonable, achievable and individualized goals, providing guidance and case management support.
Housing
We offer a complete continuum of services from housing navigation to housing stabilization. We are also providers of a growing portfolio of permanent supportive housing to individuals who are exiting homelessness.
