We serve thousands of guests each year at St. Francis House, New England’s largest day shelter for adults experiencing homelessness. While the majority of our guests are men, women experiencing homelessness face unique and often more difficult challenges. This month, we’re asking for your help to provide one simple yet essential item that is often in short supply: bras.
That’s why we created Feb-BRA-ary—a month-long initiative dedicated to collecting new, comfortable bras for the women we serve. Access to properly fitting, supportive undergarments isn’t just about comfort; it’s about dignity and well-being.
How You Can Help
Shopping for a bra might seem simple, but for a woman experiencing homelessness, it’s often out of reach. This month, you can change that by purchasing a new bra (or more!) from our Amazon wish list. We recommended a range of sizes (32A-54G), but our most popular sizes are 36-48C and 36-48D.

Your generosity will help ensure that every woman who walks through our doors has access to clean, well-fitting undergarments—something many of us take for granted but is often difficult to obtain for those experiencing homelessness.
Why Feb-BRA-ary Matters
Homelessness is different for women. It is often more dangerous, more isolating, and comes with unique barriers to safety, hygiene, and personal care. Many women who experience homelessness are survivors of trauma or domestic violence. They may avoid shelters due to fear, and when they do seek help, they often have urgent needs that differ from those of men.
This Feb-BRA-ary, we acknowledge and support these women—ensuring they have not just a safe place to be but also the essentials they need to move forward with confidence.
